Race Description
The Bedford Half Marathon is a well-structured running event catering to participants seeking to engage in a scenic course that is designed for maximum performance. The race is confirmed for November 2, 2025, with the start and finish lines located at Russell Park, Bedford, Bedfordshire, MK40 3RH.
The course features a predominantly flat and traffic-free path comprising tarmac and firm surfaces, making it ideal for runners aiming for personal bests. The total elevation gain for the half marathon is approximately 100 meters, with minimal elevation fluctuations expected throughout the route.
Course Map and Elevation Profile
The route runs along the picturesque Bedford Embankment, commencing with a lap towards the Town Bridge. Runners will cross the bridge and follow the River Ouse past Priory Park. After completing a lap around Priory Lake, participants will return to the Embankment. Half marathon runners will complete a second lap with a slight extension to achieve the full distance of 21.1 km (13.1 miles). The course will feature both kilometer and mile markers catering to 10k and half marathon participants, respectively.
For hydration and nutrition, water stations are strategically positioned at miles 4, 8, and 11 along the half marathon route, allowing runners to easily access fluids as needed throughout the race.
The race has specific cut-off times, ensuring that all participants complete the half marathon within a set time limit. Runners are expected to maintain a minimum pace of 15 minutes per mile to avoid exceeding this limit.
Entry fees for the event vary by race distance, with the half marathon priced at £37.00 and the 10k at £29.00. Registration is open until capacity is reached or until the designated date prior to the event. It is advisable for participants to register well in advance to secure their spots.
Parking facilities are available near Russell Park, with additional transport options providing convenience for attendees. Public transport routes also serve the area, allowing easy access to the event site.
Participants can expect various race amenities including custom-designed medals and event t-shirts. Refreshment options will be available post-race, along with finish line snacks provided to help runners recover after their runs. Free event photos will also be available, adding to the overall experience of the race.
