Race Description
The Exeter Live Better Marathon and Community 5 Miles, organised by Exeter City Community Trust, will take place on 3 May 2026 in Exeter, United Kingdom. The event features two distances - a full marathon and a 5-mile community run - both set along the city’s scenic riverside paths. The marathon starts at 8:45 a.m. and is open to runners aged 18 and over. The route follows a traffic-free and largely flat course along the foot- and cycle-paths beside the River Exe and Exeter Canal.
With a six-hour time limit and intermediate cut-off points, the event welcomes a wide range of abilities while maintaining a supportive, inclusive atmosphere. The course has been officially measured and registered, meaning finish times can be used for “Good for Age” qualification applications for major marathons such as London. Finishers receive a medal and a commemorative T-shirt as recognition of their achievement.
The Community 5 Miles begins at 9:00 a.m. and is open to participants aged 15 and over. This shorter run provides an accessible alternative for those not taking on the full marathon distance. The route takes runners from Exeter Quayside through Riverside Valley Park and finishes at Haven Banks, sharing the same lively atmosphere as the marathon event. All finishers are awarded a medal. Runners can enter individually or choose to support local causes by running on behalf of **Exeter City Community Trust**, with charity places available for those pledging to raise funds. Both races feature well-organised support, including water stations, medical assistance, and post-race recovery areas. Further race details, course maps, and event updates can be found on the organiser’s website.
