Race Description:
The Hamburg Marathon is one of the largest and most popular marathon races in Germany. It takes place every year in April, and attracts thousands of runners from all over the world. The course is flat and fast, and passes through many scenic and historic landmarks of Hamburg, such as the Speicherstadt, the Reeperbahn, the Alster Lake and the Town Hall.
The race also features a half-marathon, a relay marathon and a kids' run. The Hamburg Marathon is a qualifying event for the Olympic Games and the World Championships, and has seen several world records and national records set on its course. The current course records are 2:05:30 for men (Eliud Kipchoge, 2013) and 2:21:54 for women (Tegla Loroupe, 2002).
