Race Description:
The Rock 'n' Roll Liverpool Marathon is a discontinued race. The information below is for reference on the race that used to take place.
The marathon course is a scenic tour of the city centre. The route starts at the Albert Dock on Liverpool’s Waterfront, before heading towards the home of The Beatles - The Cavern Club - and then down Penny Lane. From here the route heads north of the city, with a run around Goodison Park, home stadium of Everton FC, through Stanley Park and the superb Palm House. The route also passes pass Anfield, home to Liverpool FC, and then it returns to the city with views of the Liverpool skyline and the River Mersey. The participants then pass the Liver Buildings and head towards Chinatown, running through the Chinese Arch and Princes Park, beautiful Sefton Park and Otterspool Park culminating in a finish on the waterfront promenade alongside the Liverpool Echo Arena.
Finishers receive a marathon medal, assorted refreshments and the official technical race T-shirt. There is also a free pint and a concert to enjoy.
There are 11 hydration stations on the marathon course and 5 on the half marathon course.
There are 2 hydration station on the 10K on Penny Lane Course.
All have water, some have sports drink and some have SiS carb gels.
Toilets are available at every hydration station.
There are 9 First aid stations around the course – some of which are passed twice at different stages in the race.
