Race Description
The Ludlow 10 is a 10-mile road race that showcases the scenic landscape surrounding Ludlow, a historic market town in Shropshire, England. The majority of the course is paved and provides runners with a mix of gentle rolling terrain and flat sections, making it suitable for various experience levels. The total elevation gain is approximately 250 feet, which is manageable for most participants.
The race starts at the Ludlow Town Centre, located at The Bullring, Ludlow, SY8 1AA, and finishes at the same location, providing a straightforward setup. The route takes runners through picturesque countryside, with notable landmarks including the historic Ludlow Castle and the scenic River Teme. Competitors can expect turn points at key junctions identified along the route, ensuring clear navigation.
Water stations will be available at miles 4, 8, and 11, providing hydration to participants as they progress. There will also be aid stations that offer basic medical assistance and energy gels at strategic points along the course to help maintain runner energy levels.
The race imposes a cut-off time of 2 hours for completion. Competitors are encouraged to maintain an average pace of at least 12 minutes per mile to meet this requirement. This is designed to guarantee safety on the course and to facilitate support from volunteers and emergency services.
Entry fees for the Ludlow 10 are set at £25 for individual runners. Registration remains open until the week before the race or until capacity is reached. Participants can register online via the race website.
Parking is available at the Market Square car park and other local public car parks in Ludlow, with limited spaces expected on race day. Public transport options include trains to Ludlow railway station, which is within walking distance of the event start location.
All finishers will receive a medal and a race t-shirt, commemorating their participation. Post-race refreshments will be provided for all participants, ensuring they can refuel after completing the course.
