Race Description:
The Marathon du Tours (Touraine Loire Valley Marathon) is run every September and is accessible for marathoners with disabilities, beginners and experienced runners alike. It runs along the banks of the Loire and it's tributary the Cher. The 42.194 race runs past Villandry Castle (with the must see sculptued gardens), through the villages of Berthenay, Saint-Genouph and La Riche before finishing at Place Anatole in Tours.
The French as always put on a good running festival, with music events accompanying the race and a Pasta Party the night before. The support along the race is to behold with many supporters opting for fancy dress.
Post race there is more food on offer with a Paella Party and the option for a spot of physiotherapy dedicated to all marathoners.
2020 sees the creation of the first DUO marathon, open to 500 teams, it will start on the same route as the marathon but with a relay area found in Villandry.
In addition a 20km race is also available https://www.runningloirevalley.com/les-courses/20k-tours
As is normal a France a Medical Certificate is required in order for you to be able to run the race.
