Race Description:

The MMT Byton 20 is a 20ish mile shortened version of the MMT Ultra which takes place on the same day, along with the Croft 10. Taking in much of the Marches of England, it consists of mixed trail/field/road with extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures in an area dominated in mediaeval times by the Mortimer family, one of the most powerful Norman earldoms. It follows a succession of hills and ridges with some strenuous climbs. The Trail starts in Byton, Herefordshire but soon enters Shropshire and finishes outside the grand main gates of one of the finest medieval ruins in England, set in the glorious bustling market town of Ludlow. This route is typically more suited to runners and walkers that want to push themselves beyond a half marathon distance but that aren't quite ready to tackle an ultra. Rest assured, with an estimated walk time of 6-8 hours and run time of 4-6 hours, this promises to be an adventure worth remembering. Registration for this distance will be in Kington at 0830, with the race starting at 0900. Parking is available at Ludlow Rugby Club if you require transport from the rugby club to the start point. This will cost £12 per person and will depart the rugby club at 0700 prompt.
