Race Description
The Milan Marathon has a loop course which starts and finishes in the heart of the city centre, in the Giardini Montanelli park. The Milan marathon team have consistently worked to improve and provide a course that is quick for runners and at the same time one that takes in the all the historical sights of the city. Milano marathon is the fastest in Italy and is among the very top fastest European city 26.2 mile runs.
The Milan Marathon is renowned for its fast course that attracts runners of all levels. The marathon features a predominantly flat route, making it an ideal event for personal bests and seasoned competitors alike.
The course begins in the heart of Milan, at Piazza del Duomo, a central and iconic location for the start of this prestigious event. The finish line is situated at the vibrant Piazza Castello, providing a scenic backdrop as runners complete their 42.195 kilometers.
The marathon course covers various terrains, mainly featuring urban roads with asphalt surfaces and minimal elevation changes, making it conducive for fast running times. The total elevation gain during the race is approximately 100 meters, with overall gentle slopes throughout.
Runners can look forward to several landmarks along the route, including captivating sites such as the Teatro alla Scala and Castello Sforzesco. Key turn points are strategically placed to maintain a smooth running flow, with clear signage provided.
Aid stations are available along the route, specifically located at every 5 kilometers: water and isotonic drinks can be found at kilometers 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. Additionally, medical assistance is on standby at numerous intervals should participants require help.
Participants must complete the race within a time limit of six hours. This translates to a required pace of approximately 8:30 per kilometer, which caters to a range of runners from competitive to more leisurely participants.
Entry fees for the marathon are set at €85 for registrations made prior to January 31, 2026. This fee increases to €100 for those registering after this date, leading up to February 29, 2026. The final registration deadline is March 31, 2026, or until the cap of 15,000 runners is reached.
Parking facilities are available at various locations around Milan, with additional transport options including metro services and public buses, providing easy access to both the start and finish locations. Participants are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly to mitigate any last-minute issues on race day.
Race amenities include a unique medal awarded to all finishers, along with a commemorative t-shirt. Refreshments are available at the finish line, allowing runners to replenish after the race.
