Race Description:
The Newport Marathon has one of the flattest marathon courses in the UK. Over 70% of all finishers have claimed a PB on a route that offers iconic landmarks, like the city’s Transporter Bridge and the stunning scenery of the Gwent Levels – with its coastal wildlife and picturesque medieval villages.
The one loop route takes runners past the University of South Wales and the busy Friars Walk shopping centre before heading over the SDR Bridge, winding through to the east of the city and into a more rural setting, then on towards the village of Magor in Monmouthshire. Magor offers runners a little respite with a carnival atmosphere around the main village square.
Your support teams and family will have the perfect opportunity to catch a glimpse of you and the elite runners in the medieval town of Redwick, before the route head back towards the revamped city centre of Newport.
Before a sprint finish along the River Usk, runners will get the chance to take in the coastal wildlife on show at the Gwent Levels and Newport Wetlands – one of the UK’s most popular bird watching sites.
Entrants receive a finishers medal, technical race t-shirt, on-course water station, pacers, Event Village facilities and live tracking via the Run 4 Wales app.
The 2022 ABP Newport Wales Marathon and 10km that was due to take place on Sunday 23 October 2022 has been rescheduled by the organisers to it's regular slot of spring for 2023.
