Raramuri Metaverse Marathon Race Entry

Race Description:
A marathon in the metaverse. Raramuri is the first company offering such an event which takes place on 2nd June (which is also global running day). The event is for 500 virtual runners and runners will be tracked using their watches or mobile phones. This event shows the potential power of the metaverse - for example spectators can line the virtual course route and support runners - they can do this by sending a thumbs up emoji or can even send token donations to them as they run by.
Nam Do, chief technology officer of Raramuri, said “To bring people together from around the world, who can all run in their hometowns, connected by our course, we think it’s a very special thing.”
Runners can stand out on the course by using a customized avatar, showcasing your style, cause or inspiration. Those who complete the marathon will be rewarded with an NFT stored on the blockchain to record forever their achievement and commemorate their experience, which will include their race time and grant early access to future marathon registrations.
Raramuri describe the event as "Pick your gears, run your favorite course, and smash your goal, while competing live with hundred fellow runners and being cheered interactively by thousands of supporters in the metaverse course."
