Race Description:
The Southend Half Marathon is a coastal course and is flat and traffic free making it ideal for runners looking to achieve a PB. There is support along the route and all finishers will receive a bespoke medal. The start and finish area is at East Beach, Shoeburyness.
The course is made up of 2 laps and the route takes runners through The Garrison before picking up Southend seafront to the Sealife Centre and back. Whilst road closures are in operation there may be occasions when vehicles will be moving on the course. Runners will be rewarded with views over the Thames Estuary on this scenic half marathon. The flat route is closed to traffic and wheelchair athletes are also welcome.
The race organsier strongly advises against wearing headphones of any kind as despite the route being closed to traffic there are occasions when vehicles are granted access to the course. It is therefore imperative that runners can hear marshal instructions as well as approaching wheelchair athletes who may be travelling very fast.
