Race Description:
The Wye Valley Tunnel Half Marathon is a two lap course. This route also starts with a mix of cycle path and a portion on a quiet lane. After 3/4 mile the route joins the line of the old railway path, picking up the beautiful Floral Mile, where wild flowers have been freshly planted along the route. After 3km the route enters Tidenham Tunnel which is just over 1km in length. There is approximately 1.5km of running to do along beautiful forest track, past the abandoned rails and sleepers, until reaching the turn around point, which is roughly 550m beyond the 10km turn point. All turn points are clearly signed and marshalled. The race then retrace it's steps back to Wyedean School, with a great opportunity to grab another drink from the drinks station, as well as see waiting family and friends. The second lap is identical to the first, except this time it heads straight for the finish line rather than the lap point.
Extra notes:
There are no cut offs, the race organisers welcome runners of all abilities. Please note the event is not open to people would like to purely walk the event, but if you need to do a mix of running/jogging/walking to complete your distance then they are very happy with that.
Runners with buggies are also very welcome. The Half Marathon has some very uneven sections which we would be more suited to a specific off road running buggy and you may need to walk over these short sections.
